John McCain Eats Babies…
Yes he does, every night for dinner, as many as he can.
If you believe that nonsensical statement you must also believe the latest McCain campaign message that Obama wants to raise taxes on America and he is a socialist, err, EVIL SOCIALIST. (Somebody have Dr. Evil music?) With only a week to go I will assume this is the final message and push of the identity-less and message-of-the-week McCain campaign. But, they could role out a new one by Thursday I am sure.

See this chart? The numbers don’t add up and McCain’s argument makes no sense. If you make below $2.87 million dollars John McCain is not running for you; Obama’s plan does more for you. Especially since McCain’s final message a week before the election is being framed around his tax plan vs. Obama’s tax plan. As Obama has said all along, any family making under $250,000 a year will not see their taxes go up under his plan. He has always been up front and honest about this, yet McCain has been proclaiming Obama to be a socialist, pointing his finger and shouting it from the hilltops like he has just found Osama Bin Laden. (McCain knows where he is and how to get him remember? But the we only get the benefit of that wisdom if we put him in the big chair)
Now, I am no plumber like Joe, but I have a crack so I am just as qualified to give an analysis here. Wait, Joe’s name is Sam, he’s not a plumber and he would save more in taxes under Obama’s plan? Maybe the McCain campaign should lay of the Joe The “plumber” bit and respect his right to be left alone and hold press conferences from the privacy of his own driveway. Nope, the McCain campaign thinks it’s smarter to beat this failed idea even harder and are putting him on the campaign trail. I guess under the McCain plan someone out there making over $2.87 could buy that plumbing business for Joe/Sam with their tax savings and maybe throw a little some for the property taxes he doesn’t believe in. Back to reality, your taxes essentially don’t increase until you earn over $600,000 under Obama’s plan. There are many more of us in the sub $600K column than above it. More of us shopping at the malls, grocery stores, buying gas, etc. than rich folks buying big ticket items. What would stimulate the economy more? It’s the millions of us regular people spending a little extra this holiday at Target. McCain’s plan mirrors Bush’s in that they redistribute wealth to the top of the pile and what has the past 7 3/4 years done for the country? This concept of trickle down goes back to Regan and has seen nothing but the decline of our massive manufacturing and industrial power that put us ahead of everyone else after World War II. So, let’s do the Bush thing for another 4 years and see if we haven’t yet reached bottom.
Will Obama’s plan and the coming democrat rule be better or more successful? Hopefully. McCain’s plan of more of the same does nothing but create more disparity, it hasn’t worked since 2000, why would it work now?
Let’s remember that in 2000 when asked about progressive tax and socialism (cue shocking music) John McCain was the one who said:
I think it’s to some degree because we feel obviously that wealthy people can afford more. We have over the years beginning with John F. Kennedy reduced some of those marginal tax rates to make them less onerous. I believe that when you really look at the tax code the very wealthy because they can afford tax lawyers and all kinds of loopholes really don’t pay as much as you think they do, when you just look at the percentages. And I think middle income Americans, working Americans, who when you count in payroll taxes, sales taxes, mortgage — all of the, all of the taxes that working Americans pay — I think you would also think that they also deserve very significant relief. Look, here’s what I really believe: That when you are, when you reach a certain level of comfort, there’s nothing wrong with paying somewhat more. But at the same time it shouldn’t be totally out of proportion.
Remember when the Straight Talk Express was really about straight talk? Hey John Boy, you might even say it’s patriotic to pay more in taxes when you make more? McCain later pointed out the the:
…first people who deserve a tax cut are working Americans…and they’re the ones I would support tax cuts for first.
Watch the whole video clip in this previous post.
What’s happened in the past 8 years? McCain became the republican presidential nominee and has been forced to conform his views and policies to the party base. The Maverick image is a hollow one, it is a ghost from days past with little meaning or relevance now. The party forced him to become the Maverick in name only, stripping him of any actual… Maverick-iness and his running mate is a Mav’rick in her own mind only without much of a clue. (Here’s a hint, once you have been found guilty of ethics violations, governor, you are just your average neocon republican, nothing more, nothing less… you betcha!)
